Rugby

Rugby is a team sport that originated in England and is played with an oval-shaped ball. It involves two teams, each aiming to score points by carrying, passing, or kicking the ball to the opponent’s end of the field and grounding the ball in their in-goal area, known as a try zone. The game has varied forms, the most notable being Rugby Union and Rugby League, each with its own set of rules and number of players. Rugby is characterized by its physicality, requiring strength, speed, and teamwork, as players engage in tackling, scrummaging, and strategic passing. The sport is governed internationally by World Rugby and features various competitions, including the Rugby World Cup. Rugby places emphasis on sportsmanship and fair play, encapsulated in the ethos of “rugby values.”
